of a Special Election to be held on November 5, 2024 to fill a vacancy in the office of Nelson County Treasurer. This special election will appear on the ballot with all other offices to be elected at the November 5, 2024 General Election. • August 16, 2024: deadline to file as a candidate for the November 5, 2024 Special Election. Information about running for office may be found at the Virginia Department of Elections website at: https://www.elections.virginia.gov/candidatepacinfo/candidate-bulletins/ • October 15, 2024: deadline to register to vote or update an existing voter registration for the November 5, 2024 General and Special Elections. Registrations must be postmarked by this date. • October 25, 2024: deadline to request an absentee ballot be mailed to you for this election. Requests must be received by the Office of the General Registrar by 5:00 pm (Eastern). • November 2, 2024: final day to vote early in-person at the Nelson County Office of the General Registrar. • November 5, 2024 (Election Day): Polls Open 6 am – 7:00 pm. Mailed ballots must be postmarked by November 5, 2024.
